Where dancers are the dreamers… and the drivers

In most dance settings, dancers have to audition to perform. This can lead to a competitive environment where dancers have little agency or choice. Not at SDC! We want performance - one of the most exciting parts of dance - to be open to anyone who has the passion, drive, and commitment. That’s why we put the dancers in the driver’s seat.

HOW IT WORKS

  1. Attend a Kick-off party where you’ll meet the season’s choreographers, hear about their vision, and learn a section of choreography.

  2. Sign up online the next day, choosing 1-4 dances. Registration is first-come, first-served. If a dance fills up, you’ll get your second choice option.

  3. Once you receive your schedule, pay your tuition online and commit to attending rehearsals. No audition required.

DANCERS WILL RECEIVE…

  1. Participation in 1–4 dances per season

  2. Weekly dance rehearsals within a supportive community

  3. Opportunities for networking at our Kick-Off Party and events, where you can connect with other Boston area dancers and choreographers

  4. Professional video of each piece you are dancing in

  5. Professional performance photos and solo/group photos from August Media Day
